Melanotan 1 (afamelanotide) is an analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone with selectivity for the MC1 receptor. It is studied for melanogenesis and photoprotection, and unlike Melanotan 2 it has little activity at the other melanocortin receptors.
